In the short novel, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka (變形記作者卡夫卡 ), Gregor Samsa suddenly discovers he has been transformed into an insect. He tries to continue his life as before. However, in spite of his many obligations to work and to his family, anyone who sees him is repulsed. They prefer he would simply disappear. What is the future of someone who’s identity no longer conforms to his environment?

This classic literary work, infused with issues relevant to modernity, has been in print for over a century and is readily available in multiple languages.
