One of the most recognized images of Chinese beauty is the bound foot meant to imitate the beauty of the lotus flower. Much older are legends of the Four Beauties whose mere presence could cause fish to drown, birds to drop from the sky, flowers to blush, and even dynasties to fall.
The modern day vision of beauty is very different. Bound feet and mythic beauty have been replaced by a new standard: Perfectly formed toes, long pale legs, svelte body, light complexion, narrow face and large eyes.
